For improved insulation, pair this external letter plate with a matching internal letter plate cover. Together, they help reduce draughts while creating a coordinated finish on both sides of the door.

Large External Beeswax Letter Plate Features

From The Anvil developed the External Beeswax finish specifically for applications where traditional beeswax requires greater protection. In addition, the specialist treatment has successfully passed a 480-hour salt spray test, making it an excellent choice for sheltered external doors.

Rich matt tones range from blue-black through to deep ochre red. As a result, every letter plate develops subtle colour variations that enhance its handcrafted appearance and complement natural timber, painted doors and traditional ironmongery.

The generous opening accepts larger volumes of post while maintaining an elegant, understated appearance. Furthermore, the supplied 80mm threaded fixing bolts and matching dome-headed caps provide a secure and tidy installation for doors up to 74mm thick.

External Beeswax Finish & Care

Occasionally, a light white bloom may appear because of changes in temperature during storage or transport. However, this is a natural characteristic of beeswax finishes and can be removed easily by buffing the surface with a soft cloth.

Although the External Beeswax finish already provides excellent protection against moisture and weather, applying a small amount of From The Anvil Maintenance Wax from time to time will help preserve its rich appearance. Likewise, wiping the surface with a lightly oiled cloth removes dirt and environmental deposits while providing additional protection.

Before fitting the letter plate, allow all paint, stain and timber treatments to dry completely. Otherwise, trapped moisture may affect the finish during installation.
