Skilled blacksmiths draw each ring from a single bar of mild steel before bending and shaping it by hand. Consequently, every hammer mark remains visible, giving each door knocker its own distinctive character.

To provide superior weather resistance, From The Anvil developed the exclusive External Beeswax finish using a specialist anti-corrosive beeswax treatment. In addition, the finish has successfully passed a 480-hour salt spray test while retaining the rich matt appearance associated with traditional beeswax products.

Subtle colour variations range from deep blue through to warm red ochre. As a result, every piece develops an individual appearance that beautifully complements natural timber, painted doors and other hand-forged ironmongery.

Furthermore, the surface-mounted design allows for straightforward installation using the supplied matching wood screws. This makes the door knocker suitable for both renovation projects and new-build homes with traditional styling.

External Beeswax Finish & Care

Occasionally, a light white bloom may appear after unpacking because of changes in temperature or storage conditions. However, this is a natural characteristic of beeswax finishes and can be removed easily by buffing the surface with a soft cloth.

Although the External Beeswax finish already provides excellent protection against moisture and weather, applying a small amount of From The Anvil Maintenance Wax from time to time will help preserve its rich appearance. Likewise, regular cleaning with a soft cloth removes dirt and environmental deposits before they can build up.
