External Beeswax Round Mortice/Rim Knob Set – From The Anvil 92066

The External Beeswax Round Mortice/Rim Knob Set is part of the From The Anvil Blacksmith range. Featuring a classic round design and a traditional beeswax finish, it is an excellent choice for period homes, cottages, barn conversions and character properties.

Thanks to the supplied loose collar, you can fit each knob flush to the door when using a mortice lock or latch. Alternatively, the collar allows the knob to work perfectly with a traditional rim lock, creating an authentic period appearance.

Because these knobs are unsprung, the spring inside the lock or latch returns them smoothly to their original position after use. For the best performance, we recommend pairing them with a 3″, 4″ or 5″ heavy-duty latch or lock.

Each set includes two matching oval escutcheons and stainless steel wood screws, so you have everything required for installation.

Unlike painted finishes, From The Anvil’s External Beeswax finish uses a unique anti-corrosive beeswax treatment to protect external ironmongery from moisture and changing weather conditions.

As a result, the finish develops a rich matt appearance with natural variations in colour, ranging from deep blue and black tones to warm ochre reds. Consequently, every knob has its own individual character while maintaining a traditional handcrafted look.

Furthermore, External Beeswax offers a softer and more authentic alternative to black powder coating, making it particularly suited to period and heritage properties.

Maintenance & Care

Although the finish already provides excellent protection, regular maintenance will help preserve its appearance for years to come. Simply apply a small amount of From The Anvil Maintenance Wax with a soft cloth or brush every few months. In addition, this extra layer helps repel moisture, protects the surface from the elements and prolongs the life of the finish.

Finally, if the knob is fitted in a coastal or particularly exposed location, more frequent maintenance will keep the finish looking its very best.
