Important Fitting Information

These knobs have a flat back and were originally fitted with a separate brass collar or ferrule, which is not included.

Traditional Victorian glass cupboard knobs were typically made with:

  • A flat-backed glass knob
  • A separate brass collar or ferrule
  • A threaded fixing or spindle behind the collar

As the original brass fittings are no longer present, these knobs will normally require suitable replacement ferrules or an alternative fixing method before installation.

Several fitting methods are available. For example, you may bond a threaded brass insert using a high-strength epoxy adhesive. Alternatively, you could commission replacement brass ferrules or use a specialist glass adhesive, depending on the requirements of your restoration project.

Restoring Furniture with Amber Glass Knobs

These genuine reclaimed knobs are ideal for restoring Victorian and Edwardian furniture or adding authentic period detail to bespoke pieces. Unlike modern reproductions, they retain the craftsmanship, character and subtle imperfections that make original Victorian hardware highly sought after by restorers and collectors alike.
