The centre of your door knob will be determined by the existing lock on the door. To choose the size of deadbolt you will need measure from the outside edge of the door to the spindle of your door knob. With existing door furniture your dead bolt may not line up exactly and it will be a personal choice to where you want the deadbolt to sit.
