Gallows Brackets with Lugs – 6″ × 6″ – Polished Brass – Pair
Add traditional character and practical support to your shelving with this pair of 6″ Polished Brass Gallows Brackets with Lugs. Their classic gallows shape, substantial construction and clean lines suit both period and contemporary interiors.
Craftsmen traditionally cast each bracket from solid brass before polishing the surface. However, the brass remains unlacquered. Therefore, it will naturally mellow and deepen in colour over time.
Each bracket also features circular fixing lugs. These provide additional fixing points and add to the traditional architectural appearance.
Measuring approximately 6″ × 6″ (152 mm × 152 mm), these brackets work well with larger shelves. Use them in kitchens, utility rooms, studies, bathrooms, alcoves or other areas where you need substantial shelf support.

Traditional Gallows Design
The classic gallows profile combines practical support with an attractive architectural detail. In addition, the circular lugs provide clearly positioned fixing points.
The generous 6″ × 6″ proportions make these brackets a good choice for larger shelving. Their polished brass finish also adds warmth and traditional character to a room.
Please Note – Natural Cast Brass Finish
Traditional casting gives these brackets more character than modern machine-made fittings. Therefore, small variations between individual brackets are normal.
You may notice casting marks, slight surface irregularities, darker areas or variations in colour and finish. Although the brass has a polished finish, the traditional casting process can remain visible beneath the polished surface.
Furthermore, the brass is unlacquered. This means it may already show some natural tarnishing and will continue to change colour over time.
These characteristics form part of the natural appearance of traditionally cast brass. They are not faults and do not indicate that the brackets are second-hand.
If you prefer brighter brass, you can maintain the surface with a suitable proprietary metal polish, such as Autosol. Alternatively, leave the brass untreated and allow it to develop a warm, natural patina.
Please examine the product photographs carefully before ordering. Studio lighting can make brass appear brighter than it does in natural light. If you require a perfectly uniform or flawless finish, these traditionally cast, unlacquered brass brackets may not be suitable.
Fixing Note
We include complimentary wood screws. However, please select fixings suitable for your particular wall type. You should also ensure that the fixings can safely support your shelf and its intended load.
