Door Knob Spindle – 5/16″ × 6″ (148mm)
This 5/16″ (7.93mm) square spindle is designed for use with many traditional door knobs and modern locks that accept an 8mm spindle, and is specifically designed to fit our Real Bakelite Door Knobs.
The 148mm spindle is ideal for thicker doors and suits door thicknesses of approximately 52mm–86mm when two backplates are fitted. If installed on a rim lock, where only one backplate is used, the suitable door thickness increases by roughly 19mm.
Some original locks used slightly smaller spindles (around 7.6mm). If this applies, the square hole in the lock may need to be carefully enlarged with a square file.
