Door Knob Spindle – 5/16″ × 4¼” (110mm)

This 5/16″ (7.93mm) square door knob spindle suits many traditional and modern door locks and is designed to fit our Real Bakelite Door Knobs. It works with some older locks as well as modern locks designed for 8mm spindles, making it a useful replacement for period door furniture.

The 110mm spindle is suitable for doors approximately 20mm–48mm thick when two backplates are fitted. If used with a rim lock, where typically only one backplate is required, the suitable door thickness increases by approximately 19mm.

Some older locks were made for slightly smaller spindles (around 7.6mm). In these cases, the square hole in the lock may need to be carefully enlarged with a sharp square file.
