Classical Brass Brackets – Traditional Sand Cast – Pair

Add architectural character to shelving with this substantial pair of Classical Brass Brackets, traditionally sand cast in Shropshire. Inspired by classical architectural forms, their decorative shape and generous proportions make them particularly suited to kitchens, alcoves, utility rooms and period interiors.

Originally designed as cistern brackets, they have also become increasingly popular as decorative shelf brackets thanks to their depth, strength and distinctive appearance.

Each bracket is made from solid, unlacquered brass and has a naturally aged finish. Please note that these are not highly polished, uniform brass brackets. They may have darker areas, tarnishing, casting marks and variations in colour. Please read our full finish information below before ordering.

This batch is the last of our Shropshire-made stock, as the traditional foundry that produced them has now closed.

Installation

Due to their architectural shape and weight-bearing design, these Classical Brass Brackets can only be installed in the orientation shown in our photographs.

Complimentary wood screws are included. However, walls and shelving applications vary, so please choose fixings appropriate for your wall type and the load the brackets will support.

Please Note – Natural Unlacquered Brass Finish

These brackets are new, unused stock from a traditional Shropshire foundry which has now closed. They were made using a traditional sand-casting process and are becoming increasingly difficult to source.

The brass is unlacquered and naturally aged, rather than polished to achieve a bright, completely uniform finish. Consequently, each bracket has its own individual character and may show darker areas, tarnishing, casting marks and variations in colour and surface finish. One bracket may therefore differ slightly from another.

These variations are characteristic of traditionally sand-cast, unlacquered brass and do not indicate that the brackets are second-hand.

We supply the brackets in their existing natural finish. If you prefer brighter brass, you can polish the surface with a suitable proprietary metal polish, such as Autosol. Alternatively, leave the brass untreated and it will continue to develop a natural patina over time.

Please examine the product photographs carefully before ordering. Studio lighting and photography can make brass appear brighter than it does in natural light. If you require a perfectly uniform, highly polished or flawless brass finish, these traditionally cast brackets may not be suitable for you.
