Beeswax Finish & Care

From The Anvil applies a traditional Beeswax finish that protects the forged steel while enhancing its natural colour and handcrafted texture. Consequently, every escutcheon develops its own distinctive appearance, making each piece unique.

However, this finish is designed for internal use only and should not be exposed to prolonged moisture or external weather conditions. Likewise, fit the escutcheon only after plaster has fully cured and paint has completely dried, as trapped moisture may encourage corrosion.

Simply wipe the surface occasionally with a soft, lightly oiled cloth before applying a small amount of maintenance beeswax when required. In addition, avoid abrasive cleaners and harsh chemical products that may damage the protective finish.

Finally, although the Beeswax finish offers excellent protection indoors, it is not recommended for coastal environments or exposed external locations where airborne salt and moisture may cause corrosion.
