Important Fitting Information

These knobs have a flat back and originally used a brass collar or ferrule, which is not supplied.

Victorian manufacturers commonly produced glass knobs with:

  • A flat glass back
  • A brass collar or ferrule attached to the glass
  • A threaded fixing or spindle connection behind the collar

Because the original brass fittings are no longer present, you cannot usually fit these knobs directly without sourcing or creating a suitable ferrule or fixing.

Several installation methods are available. For example, you may bond a threaded brass insert using a high-strength epoxy adhesive. Alternatively, you may use a specialist glass adhesive or commission replacement brass ferrules. Therefore, the best solution will depend on the intended use and the nature of your project.
