A charming small vintage solid iron flat iron, with a wonderfully aged finish and plenty of original character.

Made from solid iron and weighing an impressive 1.29kg, this compact iron is a substantial little piece. The top features a distinctive raised cross motif, together with a No. 2 marking. A shaped iron handle with a rolled grip completes the traditional design.

Flat irons like this were heated before use and formed part of everyday household laundry equipment before electric irons became commonplace. Today, they make wonderfully characterful decorative pieces and interesting reminders of domestic history.

This example has been left in its original vintage condition. It has surface rust, discolouration, marks and variations in the finish from age and previous use. These imperfections form part of its authentic appearance and attractive patina.
