Vintage Pilchers Paint Advertising Sales Board – Framed

A wonderfully decorative original Pilchers Crown Brand paint advertising sales board, complete with its old wooden frame. Featuring beautiful period typography, illustrated paint tins and bottles, and an original colour sample chart, this is a particularly attractive piece of vintage British advertising.

The main image advertises Pilchers Crown Brand Signal Red Liquid Paint, surrounded by illustrations of the company’s paints, varnishes and other decorating products. The wording “Established 1770” appears prominently at the top, while the historic Morgan’s Lane, Tooley St, London address runs along the bottom.

The lower section features a fascinating original paint colour sample chart, with remnants of the different colours still visible. The combination of faded colours, traditional lettering and illustrated packaging gives the piece enormous character.

The original paper advertising board is displayed within a simple wooden frame without glass. It remains in unrestored condition and shows considerable signs of its age and previous use. There are tears, areas of paper loss, marks, fading and general surface wear, including a noticeable area of loss towards the lower right-hand corner.

Despite the damage, it remains a very attractive decorative piece. We have deliberately left it in its original condition rather than attempting to restore it, as we feel the imperfections form part of its history and charm.

Previously used as a display piece in our shop, it would look wonderful in a country kitchen, utility room, workshop or studio. It would also make an unusual addition to a collection of vintage advertising, paint or decorating memorabilia.
