Available in Black or Mottled Brown, each pair features smooth, plain ball-shaped knobs mounted on decorative backplates with a keyhole. Each pair is supplied complete with a 5/16″ (7.9mm) square spindle, making them suitable for many modern locks as well as some original period locks. If your existing lock accepts a 7.6mm spindle, you can carefully enlarge the square opening with a sharp square file to accommodate the supplied spindle. In addition, traditional slotted grub screws and matching slotted wood screws are included for an authentic installation.
Like the original Bakelite door furniture, these door knobs are unsprung. Therefore, they should be fitted with a latch or lock that provides sufficient spring strength to return the knobs smoothly to their horizontal position after use.
